Dear Diamond Diary...💎
This week has been a mix of experiments, sourcing and reminders that styling is never 'just clothes'. I carried on my scanner tests with fabrics and hardware, finding unexpected textures and ways to present materials. I love the process of experimentation, trial and error. This is how creativity works best.
I styled a triple-tartan look with strong Viv Westwood energy. A choice that’s as much about cultural legacy and anti-establishment attitude as it is about aesthetics!
I've been struggling with long covid for a few months now. This week was a struggle but there's always something that can be done.... shopping! Sick days went into sourcing: faux leather wrap gloves, vintage Topshop jacket, Union Jack tie and some beautiful All Saints archive garments. All pieces that will carry narrative weight in future shoots.
Moodboard focus: protest graphics, political slogans, chain hardware and lived-in set design. I'm working on the creative direction of a shoot for the end of September.
Creative direction doesn’t only happen on set. The in-between days where the sourcing, experiments, reference-gathering happen, are where the real groundwork is laid. Fashion has a point of view, whether it owns it or not. My aim is to make mine intentional.
More soon!
