DIAMOND DIARY: Plaid, Pirates & Prefects

Deary Diamond Diary....

One of the reasons I started doing these Diamond Diary posts is because I’m usually knee-deep in three different projects, an email I forgot to send and a pair of trousers I’m deconstructing for a reel… so the act of pausing and actually reflecting is suuuuper rare (but totally necessary).

Last week’s theme was all about collage- not just in the literal, ripped-up-paper sense, but in the way I approach my whole creative process. I’ve always been drawn to a DIY energy, and the more I refine my brand, the more that rawness feels like a core part of what makes it mine. I’m mixing materials, genres, references and not everything fits neatly in the grid (as that Metro crossword page says).

My references this week wandered between pirate and New Romantic camp, safety pins and school uniforms. A tartan-heavy palette, with nods to Vivienne, Westwood, Bowie and Bolongaro Trevor all filtered through a London lens. It’s giving ‘archive kid who can’t sit still’.

The response has been mad; comments about Mugler, padlocks, pirate boots and Adam Ant energy. My Insta following is growing by about 2K a month, mostly off the back of consistent posting and slowly carving out a world that doesn’t feel like anyone else’s.

I’m still deep in the midst of my rebrand (let’s call it a refresh-and-refine) and I’ve been holding back from doing any major outreach while that’s still simmering. But even so, brands have started approaching me. I’m taking that as a sign that i'm deffo on the right track, its AMAZING to be recognised for your authenticity.

This week I’m getting back into customised accessories, working on some unique pieces and styling a shoot for a well-known tattoo artist in my studio. Can’t wait to show you the process, and of course the results.
